WINCHESTER - Autism Housing Pathways recently completed work on a project funded by a $2,000 grant from the Winchester Rotary in 2015.

The project resulted in a set of downloadable visual supports for people with developmental disabilities. Visual supports are visual directions that allow people with disabilities to independently engage in activities such as bathing, shaving or doing laundry. While the use of visual supports is a best practice, many human service agencies lack adequate funding to produce supports.

Since the supports were launched in February, they have been adopted for use by Advocates Inc., a human services provider, which has four autism-specialty homes and serves more than 1,000 individuals with developmental disabilities in Massachusetts.

Eight families have also taken advantage of the new resource.
