If you are struggling, please call (508) 661-3333 to connect with one of our caring peer specialists.

For many people in crisis, connecting with another person with shared lived experience can be a vital factor on the journey to mental health recovery. That connection is available at the Living Room, a welcoming space where people experiencing emotional distress can walk in and connect with a peer specialist on the spot.

The Living Room program provides a 24-hour crisis alternative to emergency department visits and hospitalization. Located in Framingham, The Living Room is the only program of its kind accessible to people in the MetroWest and greater Boston areas.

How We Help

We offer choices and opportunities for people in crisis to explore without surrendering control of their lives. Peer specialists don’t administer medications or take clinical notes. Instead they use their expertise and personal stories to inspire hope and demonstrate that recovery is possible for everyone.

Together, the peer specialists and visitor will share with each other what is needed and available and determine whether The Living Room is a good fit. We offer:

  • Flexible and compassionate care
  • Connections to a variety of recovery resources
  • Assistance with housing and employment
  • Peer support groups

What to Expect

The Living Room creates an experience that is entirely voluntary and focused on respect, mutuality, and trust. An assessment will be replaced with a chance to tell your story and what’s happening for you in the moment. Your initial interaction is with a peer specialist, along with all of your subsequent conversations, activities, and support during your visit.

Who can visit The Living Room?

We welcome any adult 18 and older having difficulty with a variety of issues related to emotional distress. You do not need a referral to visit our comfortable, home-like location.
