Opening the Process of Interpreting for Deaf, Coda and Hearing Interpreters with Molly Wilson, CI

Always wanted to learn the foundations of Molly's Open Process Model? Now’s your chance! Molly is back and will be sharing her Open Process Philosophy and tools for implementation and application within our work.  
Open to Deaf, Coda and Hearing interpreters. This workshop will explore introductory facets of the Open Process Model of Team Interpreting through a series of mini lectures and hands on exercises.  You will learn strategies to strengthen an interpreting teams effectiveness in maintain message integrity, working within a shared signing space and opening the interpreting process to Deaf and non signing participants in a variety of settings. 
 
Molly R. Wilson, a 4th-generation native signer, has worked as a certified freelance interpreter for 30 years, specializing in ASL interpretation.  Her work as an interpreter has spanned numerous arenas with special focus on sciences, mental health and performing arts.  As an interpreter educator, she brings a native perspective to all aspects of the interpreting process.  She is co-founder of the Open Process Model, and has developed a workshop series teaching its philosophy and application.  Her translation, process and skills workshops strive to offer participants a deeper understanding of the form, function and art of ASL.  Her “Deaf World Forums” focus on the occurrence of internalized oppression within the cultures of Deaf World, including historical perspectives and practical steps towards deconstructing internalized oppression in our personal and professional lives.  Molly is an Independent Scholar who also serves as a corporate, research, and educational consultant.
 
Deadline for registration is March 19, 2019.  If we do not have enough registrations to go forward, this workshop will be rescheduled and refunds issued. If participants need to cancel at any time, refunds will be offered until March 19, 2019. After that time, fees are non-refundable - no refunds.

Registrants must be working interpreters, screened or certified. Presenters, coordinators, and participants of this educational opportunity agree to promote an environment of mutual respect, free from bias and discrimination. This will be a fully accessible environment – ASL only.
 
MassRID is an approved RID CMP Sponsor for Continuing Education Activities. This Professional Studies program will be offered at 1.18 CEUs PS at the Intermediate Level (PPO – approval pending).
