Join us for guest speaker Bruce E. Levine on: National Institute of Mental Health's Latest Findings, Society, and the Battle for Democracy.
Recent announcements by the director of the National Institute of Mental Health with respect to the chemical imbalance theory of mental illness, the DSM, and the treatment of people diagnosed with schizophrenia call for changes in mental health treatment. However, many patients and their families remain unaware of these NIMH findings. What about our society keeps mental health professionals from implementing changes that would provide for greater informed choice? What can we do to facilitate change that would provide for greater democracy in mental health?
